Web Development
How We Developed The LJAY.ca Website
The first project we ever took on was building a custom biography and e-commerce website for Music Money’s founder, LJAY. To start, we purchased the website domain ‘LJAY.CA’ via Namecheap, then decided to use Squarespace as our desired website development platform.
First, we started a 14-day trial through our Squarespace account to see if it was the right fit for the job before making any purchases. Using Google Drive, we created an in-depth breakdown of what the website’s goals, structure, target audience, and content would look like.
Once the breakdown was completed, we began adding the desired web pages & content to the website. When first adding everything, we put almost no focus on design, allowing us to make sure that all of our text, call-to-action buttons, section order, etc. were all of the highest quality possible, regardless of design.
Once our website’s content satisfied our desired goals, we began focusing on design, making sure to keep a consistent, professional-looking theme throughout each of the web pages. We achieved this through the use of a dedicated color palette along with specific fonts that helped bring together the overall feel of the site.
After the design was done, we went through and changed all the backend settings of each of the web pages to benefit SEO (Search Engine Optimization), changing metadata such as how the pages look in online search results (page title & descriptions), the image shown when being shared on social media, and so on.
Finally, we did one last look-through before presenting our website to the client. Once approved, we provided a detailed breakdown of how to manage the site moving forward (adding new products & services, how to make any changes to design & backend, viewing & responding to contact form submissions, and so on.)
